Digital DJ’ing has become the ‘mainstream’ way to rock a venue, and DJ’s everywhere have replaced their bulky record collections with digital audio files.
Along side this, the record players themselves have been sidelined for digital DJ Controllers & DJ Software. This allows quick, easy control, just like with record players, but with audio files on a computer.
When venturing out to clubs, Psytrance nights, and bush doofs, I’ve been watching this slowly take place. The technology is changing. But, i really didn’t looking deeply into it until recently.
I was approached by a guy named Phil Morse, Via my Musical Instruments website, Musical Gear Australia. Phil wanted to know if i was interested in advertising an up and coming product that he was launching, called ‘How To Digital DJ Fast’.
I asked Phil for a review copy, to which he was only happy to grant. A few days later i logged in and was greeted with a basic website, outlining 10 different video’s.

HOW TO DIGITAL DJ FAST!
Upon watching the first video, where Phil introduces himself, i realised that this guy knows his stuff. Phil is a DJ himself, and runs a popular website called ‘Digital DJ Tips‘.<– Worth Checking Out – Heaps Of Useful Content.
Phil has spent a good part of his life cranking out tunes in the clubs. He’s been through the evolution of electronic music – from the 80′s House & Happy Hardcore, early incarnations of trance, all the way up to the minimalistic / dub-step / glitch / anthem styles of today.
But i digress - back to the course.
Phil really is a great teacher, and the instructional video’s in the course show this. In a step by step process, Phil outlines what it takes to come a Digital DJ.
Each video follows the last, in a practical timeline, which makes it really easy to absorb. He keeps it short & sweet, and doesn’t go off onto useless tangents. He delivery is personable, and you can tell this guy is passionate about helping others become a great DJ.
He talks about some of the following:
- What equipment is needed.
- What kind of laptop is required
- Recommended DJ Controllers (& the differences between them)
- Recommended Software (& the differences between them)
- How to organise your music collection
- Where to get music from online
- The important (or lack thereof) of different types of compressed & uncompressed audio file formats
- How to cue up tracks
- What the different controls do on a DJ Controller
- & So on…
The video’s are easy to absorb, and Phil describes things in a way that both beginners & technically advanced users will both appreciate. He covers a broad range of subjects, and all-in-all it’s a excellent course.
I’ve watched my fair share of instructional videos & courses over the years, mainly in the Internet Marketing Niches, and can easy say that this course is one of the best i’ve ever seen. The information is accurate, presented well, and easy to follow.
If you’re looking to become a Digital DJ (Today’s Modern World DJ) then you can’t go wrong. It’s worth much more then the asking price, and it’s actually got me interested in buying a DJ Controller, some software, and learning how to DJ like Pro.
